King's french bread

Mallory brought the hubs and chillens over for dinner a couple weeks ago for a little Friday evening fun. She asked what to bring, I said I was making pasta so "ohhhh, maybe some garlic bread." Talk about a mistake. She's ruined me to any other garlic bread for life. She wrapped me up in the King's french bread web of which I shall never escape, and now I have a craving for it every time we have pasta.

This stuff needs no fancy introduction paragraph, nor an awesome photo to accompany it. This recipe makes my job easy, in other words! :) There are a few warnings associated with it though...

1. Do not make this recipe if you need to fit into a wedding dress in 2 months.
2. Do not make this recipe if you have no control over your bread or garlic consumption.
3. Do not make this recipe if you are on a date with someone new and don't want them to see you in full feed bag mode.
4. Do not make this recipe if you ever want to make another garlic bread recipe again in your life.

Now that that's out of the way....

1 loaf french bread
1c soft butter
1c mozzarella cheese
1c real mayonnaise (yes, this is really happening...)
Garlic powder to taste
Cut loaf lengthwise in half. Mix butter, mayo, garlic powder. Spread over cut surfaces of loaf. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 25-30 min. Or until slightly browned. Sliced as desired.

  6. I can't wait to try this! However, I'm wondering if you could substitute Greek yogurt for the butter? I did it with mac n' cheese the other night (sophisticated palette, I know) and it was awesome. Hmmm, maybe a blind taste test is in order for my fam!

    1. If you google "chobani conversion chart" you can print off a chart to keep on your fridge like I do for greek yogurt substitutions! I'm a substituting fool when it comes to greek yogurt lately...I love the stuff! I'm not sure how it would work with this so let me know if you do try it. I usually go 1 cup to 1 cup for mayo so I would probably switch it for that instead of the butter...the butter conversion is said to be for 1 cup butter, sub 1/4 cup greek yogurt and 1/2 cup butter so it's not as easy to completely sub.

    2. Made it. Hubs didn't substitute before I could offer that option. Never going back. #amazingness

  7. Hey there, miss Abby! I've stumbled onto your website a week or so ago, and I love it!! (You're one funny lady!) Got a question about the garlic bread. (Which looks wonderful, and easy!) Do you mix the mozarella in with the butter and mayo, or do you spread the butter & mayo mixture on the bread, then top it with the mozarella? Let me know, I'd love to make this (and do it correctly!) Thanks in advance....
